In Funneling A Slow Leak in Hopes of Strong Winds, a gesture of migration took place over the Market Street bridge in Philadelphia in an attempt to better understand the burdens of ferrying a human to a new sovereign state internally or externally. The action took place over a river that divides geographically as well as mentally an otherwise united city.

During the performance, the migrant held his breath (stole the air from his raft) while running as fast as he could (blew on his sails) with all the possessions he could carry and did not release his breath until safely in his new land. In the event that the migrant could not hold his breath for the entirety of the journey the wind in his sails died along with the air he stole from his life raft to push himself across.

This video was the first in a series created by Adam Franklin for his solo show "Trout Fishing in America" that took place at the Tyler School of Art in the Spring of 2018.
